I Do Love You Mother

I Do Love You Mother

A Poem by Gary McDonald

I do love you mother, dearest mummy
so when that brother says the foulest words
not a peep in his support shall you hear from me
no ma'am, not I, I feel the way only a true son could
you want the best for me I know you do
tough love is never your approach is it mum
you watch over me when I'm struck I'll with flu
and sit with me when I have a dodgy tum
I hold your hand outside, I just don't care
my friends may laugh and point and stare
but for me mum, your the one whose always there
just as I for you mum, our love is forever fair
no matter how old I get, I'll always love you
because mum, I love the way you taught me to.

Gary,
for you to be able to express your maternal love like this speaks volumes of the kind of man you have become. She is blessed and responsible for you. Nice tribute to your mum, and I hope you gave her a copy of this. Beatiful!!

Speaking as a mother of 10, I love this piece and would be very honored if one of my children had written it for me. Very nice piece!
