If Your Heart Were A HarpA Poem by Gary McDonald
If your heart were a harp and I could play
only the softest melodies would you hear today accompanied by my soul's choir like voice together we do make a most heavenly noise. Your eyes, you thief, they stole my breath yet that is not the pain I feel in my chest you hold my heart in your dripping hand clasping tightly, bathed in tears, you stand. Hear my words and heed my warning do not answer to the man that comes calling he cannot love you as I always do for in this wasted heart, there is only you. © 2009 Gary McDonald |
