I Could Say This, But I Won't

I Could Say This, But I Won't

A Poem by Gary McDonald

I could say your eye is a leaf
that falls from the branch, but flies in the wind
I could say this, but I won't.

As no words can carry fair weight
to purge the emptiness from my soul
you will only ever hear me say, I love you.

It may be that you need me to show you
or even just to tell you every day
these words are all I say, I love you.

The chocolate syrup dripping from your eyes
swims to your smile's side, to taste you
I could say this, but I won't

For all the days you're by my side
and all the nights of starry skies
I shall only ever say, I love you in every way.

Beautiful and amazing, the choice of words, especially the "chocolate syrup" part. Wow!

Your use of words really is like an artist finding the right lines and colours, pastel soft or oil thick: you build up the words as with a painting, finishing with that beautiful flourish in the final line. Wonderful!

Did I read your bio correctly? You said you write "simple writes"?
My dear, this is far from simple. When you use lines like
"I could say your eye is a leaf
that falls fromthe branch, but flies in the wind"

Not simple writing. Wonderful writing..
