A Cheek

A Cheek

A Poem by Gary McDonald

Such a cheek could be a symphony
filled with strings of radiant colour
and bass of boundless beauty
whose reddish hue, of rose and flower
stretches border of restraint's county
until we can leap from our own tower
of self-control and morose peace
to land safely upon fate's soft blanket
and lie in the arms of life's answer
to my heart's greatest question, love.
