Love's Last Lie

Love's Last Lie

A Poem by Gary McDonald

Love is agony and depression
a road most misleading in it's end
awaiting soul's final concession
from a broken heart that won't mend.

Love is Insomnia and doubt
whose angelic guise is happiness
too soon pierced by bitter truth's spout
that leaves secluded man in mental wilderness.

Love is futile and cold
a vapid desert that freezes the heart
only thawed by a woman so bold
as she who navigates my Cupid's dart.
