RedA Chapter by Garrett LeathermanLittle red jewels my skin bejewel.
It was only reasonable, you see-- (And Reason is not at all against me!)-- To call that rhythmic beat cruel, Beating me though I didn’t agree To its cruel duel declared against me. It defeated me with its callous rule And reduced me to little worth-- So on and so forth.
For days, and months, and years abound I suffered its resounding thumps and pounds. Their rhythm was so instinctual That though at first I naturally found Myself mad from its incessant sounds Pounding me and crowning me a fool, I slowly but surely gained hope and mirth-- So on and so forth.
(Crimson red jewels my skin bejewel.)
It was thus but a matter of time Before among dissonance I found rhyme And ceased to deem the incessant beats cruel. I came to the conclusion so sublime That everyone else suffered the same “crime” And that this madness of mine is the rule, That littered with suffering is the Earth-- So on and so forth.
Such pang I felt for my neighbor’s plight Whom I love so much I was forced to fight For his right to be free of all things cruel. I did the same as my heart did me right: My hand embraced my neighbor’s neck tight And pounded his head till came a red pool To send him to a place more just than Earth-- So on and so forth.
