Streets Alone

Streets Alone

A Poem by The_Gargoyle

Streets of neon
Gutters of blood
Dripping like honey
Acrid as mud

Whispers of shadows
Reflections of dreams
Among a throng of faces
No one knows what no one seems

Coerced to climb higher
Convinced to tumble down
Tides of worthless words
Each listless mass encrown

Slink through the crimson city
Bask in the lurid glow
Tarry not to smell the ashes
A gated mind shrouds what open heart can know.
