Spark

Spark

A Poem by The_Gargoyle

I am but a spark of existence in the sea of void
readily extinguished
readily forgotten

A grain of sand upon a precipice
Confronted with the yearning of eternity
Beckoning a breath of wind

A leaf upon the surface of an ocean
Laying atop the secrets of an aeon
oblivious to the lightless expanse below

Every reminder of fragility burdens the soul
a frigid gust of withered time
To what end do I persist?

Yet, without the constraints of infinity
Life holds no flame
The traversal of mortality holds no merit
And the majesty of the universe holds no witness.
