A Chapter by Gargi

I wish I could just make up stories and feed them to his tiny head. He didn't have enough brains already. I could just tell him the cool facts and the random trivia I knew. Just to make him hold me in awe.
"I don't even know what you were doing with him."
"As if I know that."
"Oh, c'mon. You know better than that."
"No, seriously. He was just stupid. Plain stupid."
"I just feel bad for you."
"So do I. But it's at least better than the time you had that girlfriend of yours."
"You paired me with her."
"I honestly thought you'd be good with each other."
"Yeah, right."
"I didn't know it was a bet with your sister that you can get a girl in a week. That's by far the worst thing I've ever heard. That's the worst reason to even get a girlfriend. She was a sweet girl, and a really good friend of mine. She even saw some hope in you."
"Hope in a Shakespeare reading teenage boy who everyone speculates to be gay."
"Nothing you said there is false."
"It's not entirely true either."
"Please, you were fawning over Romeo and Juliet in high school."
"That was a phase."
"Not so much as your orientation."
"You don't say."
"Oh sweet sir, when do you plan on coming out of your closet?"
"There is none."
"True. You were always out of it. Born at the door."
I still wish I could have been smarter then. If not for anyone else, myself.
