DignityA Poem by George David Hope
DIGNITY
I'm begging, I'm pleading Can't you see I'm on my knees There's no cure for my illness Just let me go please Put an end to all my suffering Put a halt to all my pain I've learnt everything I've had to I've nothing more to gain I'm ready to cash in my chips In this game that we call life I'm now ready for eternal sleep No more agony, no more strife Be it needle that does the deed Or pill I have to swallow Just know I died happy In pity please don't wallow Let me die with dignity How I leave is up to me Just let me gaze into your eyes one last time Till I no longer see
