An Ode To South Tyneside CouncilA Poem by George David HopeA little ditty I came up with when I found out that they aim to close my daughters 11 year old school for the land for houses.
AN ODE TO SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
They sit in council chambers Claiming they know best But all they really do is feather up their nest Working with house builders A closure here a closure there The public they do protest But the council doesn't care They make the green belt disappear Sell it piece by piece Claiming it because of government cuts While the public they do fleece Making up excuses To close schools and libraries But in no time soon houses appear Built with briberies They do their job to serve the public Well that is what they claim Not caring how much they fiddle It really is a shame You never see a poor councilor Nor food banks do they go near Only interested in money That is very clear All those fancy luncheons paid for by you and me Scheming how to make more money While eating cakes and tea So never trust your council Just a bunch of crooks Hiding money for early retirement While advisors cook the books
