The Child Who Wasn't BornA Poem by George David HopeA poem that I wrote a few years ago after I'd been talking to my daughter about the child we lost before she was born. Please note the child is not described as boy/girl as I never knew it's sex
THE CHILD WHO WASN'T BORN
A strange thing happened As I lay in my bed An image of a little child Began to fill my head "I'm sorry I coulldn't stay But it really was not my time But don't worry about me daddy Because your kid is doing fine You see I'm with the angels But I watch you from up high If you want to be close to me Just look up to the sky" And then it was all over It began to fade away Tears filled my tired eyes As I pleaded for it to stay And then plunged back into darkness My heart was broke and torn With the love that I'll always have For my child who wasn't born
