Drink and InfomercialsA Poem by George David Hope
DRINK AND INFORMERCIALS
I got home in the early hours From a night out on the town Put on my fluffy slippers And sequined dressing gown I was about to go to bed My head was slightly spinning But found myself switching on the box Then I started grinning At those infomercials With stuff you'd never buy Like slippers for your goldfish I just sat thinking why But then I got to thinking What if I had a fishy in a tank And his claws became too long If I bought this, me he'd surely thank So I quickly picked up the phone Punched in the numbers on the screen In fact I thought I'd get two In case he thought that I was mean Then I saw another ad Some shoes with two left feet Handy for those who cannot dance This deal it can't be beat Things to remove body hair Things to get you fit I couldn't control myself My bank balance took a hit All night long I ordered stuff My card it took a bashing But deep down I had a feeling All this stuff I'd soon be trashing
