She's Had Enough

She's Had Enough

A Poem by George David Hope

                                                                   SHE'S HAD ENOUGH
He sits in his arm chair
Lager on the floor
She thinks to herself tomorrows the day
She cannot take no more
He shouts for another drink
Interrupted by burp and fart
She wonders how this slob
Had ever won her heart
Also another bag of scratchings
And more things to chew and slurp
Her hate for him grows bigger
He really is a twerp
She works so hard all day long
House work and meals to eat
She'd just love to have a rest
She's dead upon her feet
She feels just like a slave in chains
Who see's to his every need
A tear runs down her flawless skin
Like a clear pearly bead
She should have listened to her mother
She said it would end this way
But she thought that she knew better
The sun would shine every day
She looks at her Prince Charming
One hand hidden in his pants
Why has her life turned out like this
Filled with his moans and rants
She dreams of a hero
On a white horse to save the day
To whisk her away from this misery
To his castle far away
She dreams of a holiday
Sunbathing on a beach
With some hunk rubbing lotion
On places she cannot reach
She dreams of a lover
Filled with life in bed
Not one who's always snoring
When the pillow does touch his head
She dreams of a gentleman
Who'll hold a door for her
One who in a resturant
Will always pull out her chair
She dreams of a romantic
Who'll bring her roses everyday
Nights out to a cinema
Or theatre to see a play
She dreams of just an ordinary man
Nothing too over the top
Just one with whom to cuddle
To make her nightmare stop
Tomorrow she'll leave him
Said it many times before
But this time it's different
Packed cases by the door
