THOUGHTS FROM A DOGGY'S HOME
Been in here for ages God knows for just how long I sit here and wag my tail While humans walk along That one's nice and that one's cute They watch the puppies dance But for us older dogs We haven't got a chance Every so often An older dog will go Taken to a certain room For what we do not know I never want to go in there So dogs cry out in pain The dogs that go through the door Don't come out again Here comes an older man That lady must be his wife I wag my tail and give a paw To try for a better life They stop, look and give a smile The man gets to his knees Puts a hand up to the bars In my eyes he can see my pleas He tries to stroke me on my chin But nervously I back away The old man and the lady Decide they cannot stay I sit and watch them disappear Through a door and out of sight With my tail between my legs I lie down I'll still be here tonight I hear the door open again Take me home I plead A kennel hand comes walking in Puts me on a lead Fear starts to grab me Please don't take me to that room I know if I go in there It's only full of doom I try to dig my claws in But on concrete they don't grip I'm getting dragged along All I do is slid and slip Past the room I go right by Through the door I go I feel a little better now But why I do not know The old man and his wife are smiling The lead passed to their hand It looks like I'm going home Hasn't the day just turned out grand
