The Fly Who Flew Too High

The Fly Who Flew Too High

A Poem by George David Hope

THE FLY WHO FLEW TOO HIGH
There was once a little fly
Who flew so high
He thought he would die
When he saw how high
He started to cry
He knew if he fell
He'd surely die
So with all of his might
He tried to fly home
His hair in his eyes
And he hadn't a comb
I hope I hope
I get home soon
But he flew so hard
He flew to the moon
Once on the moon
He let out a fart
And back down to earth
He shot like a dart
Now back at home
He said with a smile
I'm not going to fly
For a very long while

Author's Note

George David Hope
I wrote this poem ages ago and had to go to my daughters school for a presentation. They had different kids singing, showing what they'd made etc..and then it happened..they announced my daughter who'd wrote a poem...she gets on the stage and gives me a little look and reads this out. At the end of the evening a teacher comes over and says her poem was really good and she has a talent...I didn't dare tell them that it was one of mine...and my daughter thought I'd drop her in it.
