Daddies Little Girl

Daddies Little Girl

A Poem by George David Hope

                                                                        DADDIES LITTLE GIRL
A father sits in the church
Watching his daughter say her vow
Waiting for her to change her name
She was some one else's now
He doesn't see a woman
He still see's his little girl
A child with flowing locks
That he'd comb and curl
He see's sleepless nights and nappies
Sleeping on his chest
He'd always been so proud
Of his daughter he was blessed
Nights of Chicken Licken
When it was time for bed
A little tap on her nut
When the acorn hit his head
Walking across the ceiling
By her feet hanging upside down
It made his overjoyed to see her smile
By trying to play the clown
Bath times filled with laughter
Swinging in a towel
Swinging from side to side
While her Grandma she did scowl
Those games of tickle monster
In a room when it was dark
Something covering his head
Oh how it was a lark
Being carried around the room
Super baby on his shoulder
He couldn't do it now
She is so much older
Shaving foam in their hands
Dispersed with a mighty clap
If her mother had saw the mess
They'd both have got a slap
Rolling down a long step hill
Getting faster on the grass
But trying to be so careful
Not to get dog muck on their a*s
Days of teenage tantrums
He was the worlds worst day
All those hurtful names she'd scream at him
But he never did get mad
A shoulder for her to cry on
When her life had got so low
Through break ups and fall outs
He was the place she'd go
But now she is a woman
The most beautiful all dressed in white
He looks at her and thinks to himself
As a dad I've done alright

Aw, George this prove to me what a beautiful father you are. What a profound dedication to your daughter. She is a lucky girl. To have you in her life.
