Saying Goodbye to the Mother-In-Law

Saying Goodbye to the Mother-In-Law

A Poem by George David Hope

SAYING GOODBYE TO THE MOTHER IN LAW
Sitting in the crematorium
Waiting for it to start
I hope they've had the sense
To put a stake right through your heart
Sitting in the crematorium
Looking at your wooden box
I wish I'd had the honour
To fasten all the locks
Sitting in the crematorium
Feeling all hail and hearty
Once you begin to roast
I'm going to have a party
Sitting in the crematorium
Waiting for you to meet your god
I hope he stokes up the fire
I never liked you, you sod
