Queen of SpadesA Poem by Ka current work in progress
You turned your head
with the whisper of that one word and shuffled stiffly down the dark, cluttered hall lined with the mementos of our yesterday. The red of her dress, The red of her spit, The red of her blood, still clung to you. I saw the smile on your face even as your back grew smaller, farther. The clumps of baked earth you nervously crumbled between your fingers, left a trail stamped into the carpet. The red of your breath, The red of your lust, The red of your heart, turned upside down. She sent a carriage for you. Her jewels are finer than mine, and with the night surrendering to the sunrise, I accepted the loss in unvoiced defeat. The black of my tears, The black of my soul, The black of our kingdom, fallen, mislead, and betrayed. © 2008 KReviews
