An Object of Faith

An Object of Faith

A Poem by K
"

Once again, this is a revised work that was submitted earlier. They all got deleted anyway, and the review restore thing isn't working for me.

"
An object of faith.
You placed it in my
Eager,
Cupped hands,
And disappeared
Before I could open my eyes.

But I held that stone
Between my palms in prayer,
Firm and still,
With a naivet that fueled my longing.
Unsure of my feelings,
But so sure of you.

Now I take a peek,
But find the cradle empty.
What had once seemed so tangible,
Was only an image.
When I wasnt looking,
You took it back
And gave it to somebody else.

wow this piece takes you for an emotional ride. Powerful ending to such a beautiful beginning.
Pain always makes the best writing, it's too bad we have to sometimes experience such horrible things to write such intense pieces.
thank you for entering my contest

Beautiful and heartfelt. At first I thought of my prayer stone and then I read the last stanza, and I knew ...

this touched me, thank you!

oh ouch. my heart clutched when i read the last stanza. i could see the trusting eyes fill so quickly with tears, staring at empty hands disbelieving. i love the line;;;when i wasnt looking;;;;isnt that when "life" often kicks us in the teeth. there has to be some true to life experience behind these words to make them so real.
