A Girl

Our relationship, in so few words

I saw a girl

That caught my eye

 

She was beautiful beyond compare

With a smile that could stop the world

As well as my heart

Her voice, though it was loud

Could make me smile

No matter what

Her touch, rough at times

Yet like a butterfly’s wing the next

Light and delicate

Her eyes sparkled with laughter

And her hidden feelings

For me

 

I fell for a girl

That stole my heart

 

We kept us secret

Hidden from view

Our love a rare treasure

Passion abounded

In every look

Every touch

Every kiss

Every moment we shared together

Day by day we grew closer

Fingers entwined

Promising each other the world

With love shining in our eyes

 

I bled over a girl

That broke my heart

 

An old flame had arisen

Someone she loved

Loved more than me

And realized

Meant more than me

Those parting words

“We both know it’s over…”

Left me bleeding and numb

Unable to cry tears

Only drops of blood

Crimson deliverance

 

I cried over a girl

That moved on

 

I was hurting

With no one to turn to

While they smiled and laughed

A happy, love-struck couple

Like we had been

Just weeks before

I want to reach out to her

Fall to my knees and cry

But, instead I keep my head down

As they pass by

My tears hit the floor

As my heart calls to hers

With no reply

 

I love a girl

That no longer loves me too
