Seat at the Grave

Seat at the Grave

A Poem by Douglas Levi Gribbins
"

Tribute to my brother..

"
Where is happiness, when will it be revived?
I stare above, Questioning bits of my life.
God, Did you have to take him, why?
Now it's every single night i cry...
His eyes said he had wings
Now he flies in, heaven he sings.
He taught me wrong from right...
Now he spreads his wings and flies...
Now it's everyday i'm sitting here since 3
How did i make it?
How did i hold my emotions?
How did i shake them?
I don't care if i'm grown up, i'll cry if i want to
You were all i had left, My role model was you.
I've been wondering what i could've done to make you safe.
Until then i got a chair waiting for you at your grave..

I really enjoyed reading this.

At first I couldnt really figure out the flow, so I thought it would be hard to read. But after a few lines, I picked up on it, and I was really impressed with how good it was.

This is a very sentimental piece. "His eyes said he had wings
Now he flies, in heaven he sings" this is beautiful - it speaks to the possibility that with something so tragic happening, the death of a loved one, there might be a glimpse of happiness, I have never had a loss like that but you described the feelings wonderfully

good again, you see that when you tap into your pain. sorrow. Heart break. Or happiness you can create very vividly.

Douglas..

My god, this brought me to tears.

I recently lost someone who was also a role-model, and a brother to me...

I can relate to this so well..

Thank you for posting this. I actually got to grieve a little.
