ICU

ICU

A Poem by Celestial Witch Child

Iris blue latex fingers prompt
Clear plastic snakes past
Flushed haunting lips pursed
In surprise at the smell of deadly sterility
Guardians screech of change-
The lament of mechanical birds
Wheezing pumps urge the
Expansion of exhausted lungs-
Legs straining with the effort
Murmured voices worry above pale ears
Hand limply placed across golden fur
Of the loyal toy bear-
Brown glass eyes the embodiment
Of hopeful innocence

This is one of the best pieces I've read, I absolutely loved it! I'm not sure what to say, it was absolutely amazing!

"lament of mechanical birds" beautiful, reminds me of a scene in the movie, The MIrror Mask (based on Neil Gaimen's novel).

Quite a poem! It's almost eery, like a hospital. I like it!

I wish I knew how you came up with "mechanical birds" and "iris...latex". Luminous descriptions to your talent.
