Prologue

     ‘I write this letter knowing that none may read it, but after all, it is for none to see. The years have taken their toll, I’ve grown weary. I know what I’ve become, and I know well why my life has turned out the way it has. If my younger self could see me now, what would they say? I can’t even bring myself to love the current me, not to even mention my younger self or my parents.

I never wanted to be this.

I never wanted to be looked at like a monster.

I never wanted to become a monster.

Yet here I am, after all, fate plays petty tricks on fools full of justice like myself. Although I know it to be impossible I yearn to go back, I would do anything to turn back that wretched, arrogant clock that moves its hand without a care in the world, I’d even cut my own short. 

Anything.

Anything.

Just let this nightmare end.’
