The Other Side of the MoonA Poem by GailAlexanderIn this poem I describe the moon as having two different personalities - one benign, the other somewhat sinister.
The gentle moon goddess has another side - a cruel, malicious side. She promises glory and diamonds, but then she bestows remorse and ashes. She reaches out with her silky smooth diamond and pearl ringed hand, only to take back all joy with here dry shriveled hag's hand. The moon, so beautiful, so serene, can be a cruel mistress of regret and shame. She is the goddess of the unfathomable darkness, and hidden mysteries. She is the creator of beckoning illusions, that promise goodness and light, but she can suck the very soul from you, until, in your pain, you yearn for death. Beware the dark side of the moon!
