To Do or Not to Do.

To Do or Not to Do.

A Poem by Gaiamethod

Would you follow me
If I showed you the way?
Would you walk in the dark woods,
And along muddy, lonely tracks?
Would you decide, on being shown the path
That it was too hard,
Too tough
Too long?
Or would you grit your teeth
And decide to trust me,
Knowing that it would not be easy.

And having followed would you then mock me?
Rail at me for my oh so high expectations?
Or would you hate me for making you come this way?
Would you spurn me then for challenging your assumptions?
Your fantasies, your desires?
Would you then turn back
Deciding that the old path was the right one?
The one you should have taken
If only it hadn’t been for me?
Would you ignore me?
Pretend I never existed.

Or would you take your heart in your hands,
Your courage by its boots
And commit,
Commit to the journey,
NO MATTER WHAT?
What would you do?
Only you can decide which is the path for you
But in taking it let me remind you
It is your choice and your choice alone.
Your hate will not kill me.
Your rage will not destroy me.
It will only effect you for you are the one who lives your life,
With or without me.

Powerfully thought provoking write my friend. When all is said and done it is our own choice what path our life follows. I think that your "YOU" very well can and does apply to everyone, and that the "You" that is behind the keys is not neccesarily yourself. Does that make any sense at all? LOL I had a few minutes of sanity today and wanted to drop in on you to read at least one of the things you had designated as poetry. I am so glad that I did. Blessings, Lesa

Some important questions. Wisdom resides in the path, I think.Knowledge and beauty and truth reside in the path.

Some interesting thought-provoking questions you ask the unknown person you this poem is addressed to. I like the way you reveal a lot about both persons in the questions which are posed so that in essence the question becomes the answer even as you wait to hear it just the same.
