Childhood Memories

Childhood Memories

A Poem by Gaia Octavia
"

*Trigger warning* Childhood trauma

"
The silence was my sacrifice

These torturous scenes
I've imprisoned within
to spare you the pain
of my memories

So that only my soul
would be corrupted
by those long-dead actions
of another

But I refuse to carry them
any longer;
they are pulling me down
and I am drowning

And the weight
of those terrible deeds
is not mine to bear;
so I am letting go,

And I will rise

Into the light

This is a beautiful statement about freeing oneself from the torture of bad memories, whether from a bad childhood or bad relationships in general. Bottling things up inside is a sure way to amplify the bad feelings, I’ve found. I was lucky to have generous friends who served as my sounding board for many long nights spewing the venomous feelings of an abusive family life. Knowing the sweet release of letting go, I wish this healing for others, too. Your poem shows how this can be done & how good it feels. Great inspiration for those holding too much poison inside (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you very much. That means a lot to me.
Nice.....it felt a little anticlimactic, but the set-up was perfect!
