Young GirlA Poem by Gaia Octavia
You are not just a number that's on a scale
you don't need a prince in your own fairy tale you are not just the length of your favorite shorts if a boy can't pay attention it's his problem to sort a boy cannot tell you what or who you are it is only you who defines your North star you are never what the TV says or shows (making you feel bad so you buy products is how that story goes) you are much more than just a plain old girl you're full of layers to slowly unfurl you deserve equal pay and equal opportunity to be a successful member within your community you are not weak enough to fall for any portrayal after the very first insult, assault, or betrayal you're strong enough to leave him far behind because nothing is good without peace of mind you are not a distraction for boys in your school you deserve to learn just as much as those tools you are not a half-naked victim from a video game (and we wonder why violence against girls is inflamed) you aren't a photoshopped model with impossible curves for others to look at and judge cause they're pervs you know that society isn't friendly to you but toxic, corrosive, and repulsive too but you're a strong girl who can block it all out: media, society, a******s, and doubt making choices about your body, as only you can, cause you're a beautiful, smart, and powerful woman I'm telling you this now because I always hungered for someone to tell me this when I was younger © 2016 Gaia OctaviaReviews
