In a Cemetery

In a Cemetery

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

While wandering through
cold granite plots
I came upon
a sorry lot

Their heads were bent
their arms around
while sleeping flowers
laid on the ground

Beaded droplets
mournful clouds
a mindful hush
upon the crowd

Gathered 'round
a lowered friend
with shattered hearts
no one can mend

Teardrops fall
as I looked on
wondering who will
mourn me when I'm gone

Thank you very much ☺
Your curiosity with things to come and how you express it in words is very moving. This may sound weird, but as I read the lines, It appears to me like a unique blend of emptiness and abundance, that in my opinion, gives impact to the whole literary piece. Multifaceted, good job!

Once more it appears that your greatest strength in these poems is the way you finish them.
One haymaker after another you leave the reader with a sense of ''Damn.''

This one in particular seems to hold some pain in it. But more then that, I see here not personal pain alone, but solidarity with the pain around you. (Or the character.) Sometimes shouldering other people's woes is going to make your life hard.

But some people just can't help it.
Thank you for the poem.

I could actually see this happening as I read! It felt like...ME! I love cemeteries, and plan my funeral every week. I am constantly thinking this very thing, "...who will mourn me when I'm gone". Great piece!
