Trust No One

Trust No One

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

Old, ground-in fears
claw up my neck
hold my life hostage
and keep me in check

A tattered mind
riddled with anxiety
keeps me at long length
from this broken society

Taking cover,
down on my knees
though powerless, I'm still under
my own sword of Damocles

Nothing tempts me
to make a change
I am perfectly happy
being estranged

Under constant threat
of coming undone
I shore myself up
by trusting no one

Ohhh, man!
I just wrote a poem with a sword of Damocles!
Beaten to the punch! Oh, well...

Anyway...nice and nihilistic, as always.
I actually find it refreshing.
