My Fellow Tortured Souls

My Fellow Tortured Souls

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

Where are you,
my fellow tortured souls?
Those of you who have
lived through trauma
or are drowning in it still?
If only your cracks were visible
so I knew it was safe
to reach for your hand,
to smile and know
we are kindred souls;
the aftermath of painful lessons
inflicted on us by the ugliness of others
if I could hold you, I would
I would whisper assurances
that together, we are one

Nicely done. I wasn't tortured in childhood but sometimes I'm drowning from more recent squalls. Soothe your pain with writing and keep reaching out your hand for others to find.

Thanks firebird. Its good to know no one suffers alone ☺
Well, it would be remiss of me not to check in, seeing as I identify myself as one of those.
