SolitaireA Poem by Gaia Octavia
I remember a time when I thought you were mine
and I held you as close as I could you slipped away though I begged you to stay and left my heart broken for good Unable to trust unwilling to change in a permanent limbo most others find strange I've sacrificed love for peace in exchange so much for noble intentions I knew long ago I would likely forgo the same path that most others choose I knew that my mind was one of a kind that in love I would forever lose I'm nothing but me: a storm you can't chase like a shifting tide I'm all over the place I've given up I can tell by my face; fixed in an ugly expression I'm such a mess I prefer loneliness and now my heart no longer pines for the kind of life where I'm somebody's wife and where - through that love - I'm defined I remember a time when I thought you were mine ah, but that was a lifetime ago if offered the chance to rehash our romance I'd unequivocally say no © 2016 Gaia OctaviaAuthor's Note
