Burst

Burst

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

Waiting for the day

I feel good

when I feel whole again,

like a real person

someone

who matters,

who isn’t just

impatiently waiting

for life to run its course

Thoughts bubble up

and burst

through me

as corrosive

as acid,

gnawing my insides,

filling my head

with tea kettle

screams

Daily poisons

course through me

forcing me

to gnash my teeth

and bear my pain,

both real

and imagined,

in the prison

of my mind

wow this could be seen as dying on the inside

Ahhh...the prison of the mind! I know it well. Your poem expresses the anguish of negative self talk very well. Remember that there's always an alternative way of looking at things. This helps me with my corrosive bubbles sometimes!
