Mercy

Mercy

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

A somber tone
My mind does take
With thoughts of you
Left in its wake

To picture you
I close my eyes
Endeavoring
To visualize

Your august face
As cut from clay
Eludes me as
If masked in grey

A futile search
Within my mind
Like a letter
Left unsigned

A worthless plight
To lock away
Like useless toys
Well past name day

And so I yield
With neck across
And thank you for
This coup de grâce
