Love's Hammer

Love's Hammer

A Poem by Gadger

Love’s Hammer

Don’t take my love for granted,

It cannot be switched off and on.

Hurt and hate me all you like,

And one day it will be gone.

For each and every bad comment that you make,

Hits my heart and forms a crack.

A simple sorry, which I could accept,

Could help my heart spring back.

Each time that your hurt is aimed at me,

That hammer crashes into my heart.

I can last no more, I don’t have the strength,

To wait for your forgiveness to start.

I wish you could see how much it hurts,

Each time your hammer does strike.

I feel I am dying from the inside out,

That feeling I will never like.

My love is there, and always has been,

Since the day to you my heart was handed.

So please look into my eyes and see the hurt,

As each of your hammer blows is landed.

I need loves warm embrace to mend my heart,

No more darkness where the sun once shone.

Keep on raining down your hammer blows,

And then one day I will be gone.
