Wake Up!

Wake Up!

A Poem by SELF

Wake Up!
wake up, you're a toddler and you've just taken your first foot steps
from crawling to walking.

Wake up
you've got to catch that school bus
past kindergarten past middle school and high school is just around the corner

Wake up
the child that couldn't walk is now ignoring their phone alarm
the brief fleeting years have been spent on a series of rigged schemes that reek of schisms
schemes of acclaimed educational accolades

Wake up
hopefully you have a job and you're late for it
an endless loop of routinely activities is now established
from crawling to working
look at you now, the toddler that couldn't walk at all
look at you now, a mere quintessence of a fluid

Perhaps When you do awaken
the glimmering stars will have been spread across the ground

Wake up
you died at 20 and you're waiting to be buried maybe at 40 or 60 or 70
maybe when you do awaken
you'll let your dying star shine one last time

Meanwhile, the trumpet blows and a reckoning begins
if the seas were ink and the trees transformed into writing instruments
the glory of Awakening couldn't be written entirely
it's potentiality just like the human brain, is infinite
Wake up!

Been awoke and can't go back to being asleep ever since. This is the cycle is on repeat over and over but why we can't stop it? Because it's the only option given to us to live "physically" until our souls drain. And yes, it died at around 20. People thought that the system is broken when in fact it was built that way.

I enjoyed reading your poetry! Thank you for writing such incredible work of mind.
