Mother

Mother

A Poem by Gabrielle Linch

From the first gasp of breath,
To the first tear you wiped,
You were always there.
Holding my hands and guiding me,
To the unknown.

The way you helped me to my feet,
When I felt broken and scared,
Is something I can't describe.
You held the stars in your hands,
And encouraged me to reach.

With eyes shut,
Lost in my dreams.
I had a foolish image in my head.
But you never really seemed to mind,
Because you knew it made me happy.

Sometimes you might feel a
Sense of detachment from me,
Distracted in my own ways.
But I need you to know,
That I'll always love you.

A lot can change in just a few years.
But when the world starts to end,
My eyes will still be full of adoration for you.
And from the last tear cried
To the last breath breathed,
I'll be there for you.

This is such a beautiful poem, it reminds me of the relationship between me and my mum.

I loved it! Sounds like you and your mother have had a great relationship, with some bumps along the way like all relationships.
