DarknessA Poem by Gabrielle Linch
The moon came out.
Pale and shrunken to the size of a dime. Crossed quietly over a meadow, Squatted in the shadows, Like a sheep in a dream. Black plastic silhouetted against the sky. In tiny slivers, strings of stars, Could not yet be named. Like a lullaby, exhausted whispers died away. Lost in the foggy gray for hours. Lukewarm blood-shower, A fine red mist. Imperfect for uncertain reasons. Smoldering self pity, Evaporated to numbness. Ghosts in the green tree line, Hidden and faraway. A silent howl, Screaming or dreaming? Pulled by invisible wires. Hesitated transparent thoughts, Emerging from a deep nightmare. It was hard to imagine, That these were the ordinary hours of life. And none of it mattered. © 2014 Gabrielle LinchReviews
