ConstellationsA Poem by Gabrielle AshleyJust a little something I wrote for a school poetry contest...partially inspired by John Donne
It seems forever will we wait Though I know it has not been very long I keep time closer to me Than that of those who do me wrong For it can be A dangerous enemy
The magic in your eyes I yearn to see thy face But time does not permit us so This is not our place
We were born a tragedy Already written in the stars Brought only together To discover who we really are
I- a wonderer in search You- a promised path But there are scars beneath our purpose To hide behind our masks
Our caution is mirrored By each other's reflection Because we both know how it is To fall into deception
And we come to realize Something we least expect That by looking into each other's eyes Fear is not the only thing to reflect
But no sooner do we acknowledge That we are molded such for a reason Does fate intervene And display the worse kind of treason
This is not How it is supposed to be I was meant for you And you were meant for me
We were born a tragedy Already written in the stars Brought only together To discover who we really are
We share something that the world has never seen Yet admits to part take in its pleasure, The kind written about in story tales Doesn't even come close to its measure
The earth was not made for things greater than it's intended Life being the highest of states Therefore, those greater than life Cannot survive in such a place
Thus are strength is torn By the weakness of the world's capacity The greatest love it has known Was also its greatest catastrophe
Now, I no longer wonder in search And you don't walk with purpose Separate we wait for those in charge To give us a name amongst the stars
There is a place for us Somewhere no one can find Somewhere meant for only you and me Our own wrinkle in time © 2008 Gabrielle AshleyReviews
