Oblivion

Oblivion

A Story by Gabriel Soberanis

I’d like to know if I can forget you forever. You didn’t come since origin, and yet since you showed up, I couldn’t leave you.

Not that I want to do it, it’s just that there are days that the pain never ends. You are gone and I know it, and looking for you is impossible; a smell or a taste we share, summon your ghost next to me.

I chase you in the shadows, in the accessories of the table; in the few objects you left behind, in the many memories you created. To follow is necessary, to forget, I confirm it, is impossible.

Looking in the mirror the ornaments you left I realize; it’s not that your memories don’t go away, I have put the chains and I have tied to be with me.

You loved me and asked me to leave you, yet I still cannot; I need an answer, but I still don’t know the question.

Now I see the impossible of oblivion, and I only hope that day, when we meet again.
