Master

Master

A Poem by Gabriel Eden

The bells and screams accompany

My walks down the halls

I’m shown no act of chivalry

Listening to my masters calls

I hear the dinner bell

My tiny room fills with fear

This is a sound us servants know well

And one we never want to hear

This house is cold and grey

The nights stark and long

We scurry about through the day

And watch with dread for the dawn

Our master greets us with a leer

The halls echo with our bare feet

For surely danger lingers near

We glance at our brothers we happen to meet

A tremor runs through my grey fur

My tail curls and my paws clench tight

I dont know what is to occur

But I know its going to be a fright

Our little rodent army runs through drafty this house

We face the monsters of childrens dreams

Yet I am brave for a little mouse

And on my face a smile beams

I’ve lost all fear

My master rules

Victory is near

Disobedience is for fools
