The Choice

The Choice

A Poem by Gabriella Charlton
"

Everybody interprets poetry differently, I wonder what you will see.

"

Candlelight flickering,
Blood dripping,
Wax melting,
Skin tearing,
Fingers gripping,
Nails ripping,
Muffled screaming,
Eyes streaming,
Heart beating,
Chest heaving,
Blade sheathing,

Life...leaving.

Relentless, gripping, and yet so inherently simple. 24 little words, doing the work of far more. The ellipsis right at the end was perfectly used. The slightest pause in the tempo, the final breath of the poem, the final breath of life... leaving.

Great work, Gabriella.

Gritty and intense in its simplicity. You did a lot with a little here, and it worked out well. I look forward to reading more. Welcome to the cafe.

That's a very interesting write, nice concept and imagery.... Beautifully thought out and we'll presented... Intensity throughout the poem... Very true each one of us sees or thinks about poetry in a different way...
