Hoping to Exist Again

I haven't been writing to feel closer to you
I'm just waiting to exist again
in the beating of your heart
anything's nothing for us to heal,
I lie open on this floor
wondering if you're dreaming of me now.
you watch closely for my breathing
and sync yourself beneath my skin
I wish we could digress
to the nights where I couldn't tell what you were thinking,
counting stars unto the drunkenness.
if you could be taken back by me again
I'd drain my veins and replace the
blood with alcohol
I've missed the taste of your tongue
when your soul was still in love
yet here I stay, wide awake in fear,
hoping to exist again
