Lost in PurgatoryA Poem by Gabby NievesI
was shot in the bathroom today. I've gone away And
the clocks didn't stop ticking. My
mom cried and a part of her died, She
lost her little girl But
the sky did not go missing. I
was lost in Purgatory, And
the trees kept on whistling.
A
boy drowned in a pool today. He’s
gone away His
dad spent many nights in a different state, A
false reality, a refusal of acceptance. He
lost his only son, But
the world continued to rotate. He
was lost in Purgatory, And
new life they would still create.
A
baby was refused birth today. It’s
gone away Mommy
and daddy won’t hear the crying, They've been devastated, permanently scarred. They
lost their unborn baby, But
everyone did not stop trying. Baby
was lost in Purgatory And
we all just keep on dying. © 2015 Gabby NievesFeatured Review
