The Only Way

The Only Way

A Poem by Beatles9322
"

Eric, again 2/7/12

"
They say that jazz musicians are cool and composed.
Never missing a beat, their eyes see through
all of the superficial silliness of this life.
They know how to rise above it all.

Was that a hint of nervousness I saw in your eye?
I could've sworn it was. Just as quickly,
sadly, it's gone without a trace.
I'm left to wonder and worry.

Did you just smile? It was the tiniest little one,
yet I'm sure it was a smile...for your eyes lit up.
Blast! There it flies, up toward the other angels
in heaven, or our peaceful and holy home.

For two days I will turn this over in my mind.
Does he love me? Was it my passionate imagination?
The only way to be certain, I gather, it to
walk up to you and plant a big kiss on your pink lips.

I believe the jazz musician may like a big warm kiss. I like the story and the desire of this poem. Imagination is a good thing. Real life deeds can leave good memories forever. A fun poem to read. Thank you for the excellent poem.

This is sweet, and sad at the same time. Because it's almost like you want to believe it was true, but it wasn't. But you think it really is something. You hope and hope that it'll work out. That they feel the same. Looking for every single excuse in your mind to justify that that smile was for you. That they do like you...

This brings back so many memories of my Freshman year of high school, but I'm glad you shared it.
:)
