Cycle of Tears

Cycle of Tears

A Poem by Beatles9322
"

I wrote this about a friend of mine whom I was having problems with. We are now closer than ever!

"

You and I were equal,

We shared everything,

From lunches to crushes,

But something changed.

"How did we get here?,

I used to know you so well."

Those sad words describe,

My thoughts when you're with me.

What is wrong?

How can I fix this?

I always try to help you,

But you just shove me away.

Do you know how much it hurts?,

To see a beloved friend so hard-hearted?,

To see her resort to the bottle,

At the tender age of fifteen?

Do you know the amount of shock,

I felt when you told me,

About your sexuality?,

Did I leave you? No, I did not...

Although it went against,

Everything I know to be right,

I stood by you day and night,

I was always there.

I was there when you came to me,

Tears running down your face,

Hurting after your sister attacked you,

I held you close and calmed your mind.

I was there when you had boys,

Who would kiss you and leave you,

I held you close to me,

And told you that you deserved better.

I was there when you were struggling,

With your weight and appearance,

I held you close to me and said,

That you're beautiful and to forget the scale.

But, friend, now it's my turn,

It's my time to be held,

And consoled and loved,

But just know one thing.

I cry because you draw back,

I hurt because you push me away,

After all these years I finally see,

That you've done nothing for me.

So goodbye, my old friend,

Good luck with your life,

Maybe someday we'll meet as equals,

And the cycle will begin again.
