Here I Am

Here I Am

A Poem by Beatles9322

Things have been different,

Since the day you slipped away,

Nothing is the way it should be,

I couldn't make you stay.

You slipped through my fingers,

Like the wind blowing through your hair,

There was nothing I could do,

Though everything in life we would share.

But this we could not, did not, share,

Your cancer of the bone,

That took your youthful beauty away,

I cry because I'm all alone.

You were so young and free,

Nothing seemed to phase you,

You skipped and jumped happily,

To you, the sky was always a pure blue.

Why must you leave?

It isn't your time yet,

I'm sure that there are things,

I will regret.

Was it really necessary to fight,

Over a stupid reason?,

You being gone,

Makes me cry every season.

There's one little shred of hope,

And happiness that I hold,

You gave me your daughter,

To love and to mold.

Looking into her different-colored eyes,

Reminds me of you,

I smile to myself,

And then I'm not so blue.

Rest assured that I will,

Take care of your daughter,

I'll love her like my own,

And I won't let go of her.

Now I am old and brittle,

Your daughter has daughters of her own,

She gives them the love,

That to her I have shown.

I can't wait to get to heaven,

So I can see your smile in this glorious land,

And just know that,

Here I am.
