Gone

Gone

A Poem by Beatles9322
"

This is about a man sacrificing himself for his woman.

"

As I reflect on the year we had with each other,
A tear comes to my eye,
Our love was so pure and real,
Until the day we had to say goodbye.

I was in trouble, I needed you there,
You sacrificed yourself for me,
You told me to make the future mine,
I cry because now we can never be.

Now you're gone,
Gone like the wind,
Gone like my innocence,
Gone forever, my lover and best friend.

Oh, why did you have to do that?,
Why couldn't you let me die?,
Now I live with the pain of your death,
In my dreams at night, I see you and cry.

I guess you loved me so much,
You were willing to die,
Wait for me there,
Wait for me on the other side.

So now, as I lay here near death,
My long life coming to a close,
We can be together in Heaven,
On my grave I told them to put a rose.

I just want you to know,
What the inscription will read,
Just in case you were unsure of my love,
After you did an amazing deed.

"Here lies a devoted woman,
She loved but one man,
He is in heaven and now she is too,
They walk together hand-in-hand."

Now you're gone,
Gone up into the blue,
Gone like my innocence,
But now, I'm gone with you, too.
