My LetterA Poem by bluuuI asked a birdie to bring me a message. He agreed and went off to find it. I spent endless days enthused and impatiently awaiting his return, with a note specially addressed to me. In a short eternity, he returned. I eagerly pried open the folds, almost missing the handsome lettering, which helped engrave my name on the fine paper. I searched over the letter, allowing exciting words to jump out to me before actually reading the content. I began to read... I flipped over the letter, rereading my name on the front. Hoping it would spell another, hoping I've received someone else's note. I flipped it again, to validate what I just read. These were not words I wanted to read. There was no way this was meant for me. I loosened my grip on the letter, and allowed the letter fall to fall to the ground. My heart now beating in a rhythm that lets me know it's broken. I wish I had not opened it. I wish I had not sent the bird to retrieve it. I wish I didn't have the curiosity to know what the universe thought of me. I do wish to grieve alone now.
