Living in a Painting

Living in a Painting

A sense of silence

"

Living in a Painting " Davy Jones

In a life surreal the bell of time has no peal

Even the empty echoes stand stock-still

Every night, every day passes exactly the same way

Clock frozen, mute, hanging on the wall

No tick, no sound at all

Golden wheat static still, silent on the far off hill

No sweet bird song or hunter’s cry

No rainbow fills the empty sky

Bowl of fruit, a waxy taste, never eaten, never wastes

Wagon rolls on silent wheels

Yet never moves through farmland fields

Ageless faces stare from walls, stony down the empty halls

The painter’s brush has captured yet another scene

So still and silent

Quite beautiful, moving, and serene

I felt almost as if I was dreaming. I was transported into the painting, standing frozen along with all the other objects that will never move. Never aging, never moving, never dreaming. Beautiful!
